We're looking for your ideas on how we can improve student lives. Whether it's a small change that you think will make campus life easier, or a big policy idea that will influence the future of the University, we want to hear from you.

Submit your idea on our ideas module below and let your fellow students decide which are taken forward.

To submit your idea, click ‘new idea’ and fill in the form on the next page.

You can also vote now on ideas that your fellow students have submitted.

If you have any questions, you can email ausareps@abdn.ac.uk.

What happens to my suggestion?

All suggestions that reach 10 votes or more, will receive a written response from the officer page, outlining how we will respond or are already responding to the SU-ggestion, or what factors mean we might not be able to implement the suggestion.

If your idea relates to the establishment of a policy and reaches 30 votes or more, it will be considered for a debate at our Student Council.

Make assessments more relevant to real-life

Lobby the uni to provide more assessments that are align with the work we’ll be doing once we leave uni, instead of exams and essays every time. Particularly now that AI is becoming more prevalent in workplaces, it would be good to see ways of using it properly integrated into courses and assessment as well.

3:35pm on 25 Mar 25 One of the few silver linings of the pandemic was the increase in more authentic or inclusive forms of assessment that it brought about. We both need to prevent this progress from being lost now that we have transitioned out of the pandemic, and push for these modes to be implemented more widely. I continue to raise this at school level – e.g. through teaching reviews – and at university level, both in conversations with the Vice Principal for Education/the Education Deans and through the University’s education-related committees and groups. I will continue to take this forward, and any concrete updates will be provided through the SU-GGESTIONS “You Said, We Did” pages as they come into effect. – Miles, VP for Education
