Types of Activities

The University of Aberdeen History Society offers a blend of social and academic activities to cater to all interests.

Academic Activities: Join our study sessions for collaborative learning, attend guest lectures from esteemed professors, or take part in our student-led lecture series where you can present your own research and ideas.

Social Activities: Get to know fellow history enthusiasts at our pub quizzes, explore local historical sites on our trips, and don’t miss out on our themed balls – an unforgettable evening of dancing and celebration!

Aberdeen Historical Review

The Aberdeen Historical Review (AHR) is an undergraduate journal run by the University of Aberdeen History Society. It showcases top-notch essays across various historical periods and approaches. The journal is published bi-annually in summer and autumn, and you can learn more about it on the AHR website. We also post updates on our social media, so be sure to follow us there for the latest news. Third and fourth year undergrads are able to submit provided their work received a First Class Honours!

How to Join

Joining the History Society is easy! Once you’ve set up your university IT account, simply log in, and the ‘add to basket’ option will appear on the right of this page. If you’re a First Year and haven’t set up your IT account yet, don’t worry – you’re still welcome to attend our events while you’re getting settled.
