Dear Fellow Students,
Regardless of your level and background in yoga, the Yoga Society gives you the opportunity to experience the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga, meet like-minded students, and improve your personal practice. We are a society for everyone and our classes provide a safe environment where everyone is accepted as they are.
Our class schedule for the 2024/2025 academic year is listed below. We offer two classes a week, each with a professional instructor. As well as covering a mix of different yoga styles, the classes are open to all levels of experience including complete beginners.
Once a member, feel free to attend as many classes as is right for you! We provide yoga mats as well as some blocks and straps but if you prefer to use your own – feel free to bring them along.
We also aim to organise various social events throughout the year, so we can all get to know each other. All information will be posted on our Facebook page and Instagram page.
We welcome you as a member of our society and look forward to meeting you at one of our classes or events!

‘I’m delighted to have the opportunity of sharing practice with the yoga society and look forward to welcoming all levels of students’
Angela Scott Stephen
“I have been practicing yoga for over 30 years and teaching for over 5 years. I am a yoga therapist and enjoy teaching and practicing vinyasa flow and tantra hatha yoga. I also teach yin yoga and chair yoga.
My philosophy is that yoga is for everyone and I am a great believer in function over form. The breath is the most important aspect of yoga in my opinion and by using the breath we can focus the mind and bring everything into balance.”
FAQ:
1) I've never done Yoga before - is that okay?
- Yes! Complete beginners are always welcome to join us. Throughout the year, we will either hold beginner and intermediate classes or mixed classes that are suited for both; and you are welcome to do the practice at your own pace.
2) Which styles do you offer?
- Our teachers are offering classes of different styles, to match the needs of the participants at each session.
3) What is the level of difficulty of the classes?
- All classes are open to people of all experiences, backgrounds and abilities!
4) I've missed the taster sessions/ the first classes. Will I still be able to come to the sessions? Will I be able to keep up with the pace of the classes?
- Everyone is welcome to join us at any point throughout the semester, regardless of experience and level. During the class, you are in complete control of your pace. If you feel tired at any point, you can slow down or stop for a while and join again the rest of the group when you feel ready.
5) Do I need to be a member to attend classes?
- No, you can attend classes even if you are not a member; however, we strongly suggest you buy our membership and enjoy the discounts!

- You can buy it directly from this page - just click on the "Join this group" option above. Alternatively, you can go to AUSA's reception at the Hub.
7) How can I pay for individual classes?
- If you are a member, you do not need to pay for each class individually, you can just come and enjoy as many classes as you wish! If you are not a member, you can still attend but you need to pay £5 per class to one of the committee members.
8) Can non-students buy our membership?
- Yes, non-students are allowed to buy a membership for our society. Similarly to students, everyone who wants to join a society has to buy the Societies Union Membership too (which is for administration costs).
