Make a Differance

STUDENT SUSTAINABILITY ADVOCATE

Who is a Sustainability Advocate?

Sustainability Advocates are student volunteers who are passionate about advocating for sustainability and want to see a more sustainable campus.

This is a new role! So you can help shape it.

What does being a Sustainability Advocate entail?

Sustainability Advocates will:

  • Organise the Climate Assemblies throughout the year.
  • Gather data regarding sustainability in their school and the curriculum.
  • Compile suggestions and ideas on how to embed sustainability on campus.
  • Communicate with Students’ Union staff.
  • Inspire students to think about sustainability.

But you can help shape the role of the Sustainability Advocate by carrying out other tasks you may come up with.

How to apply for the Sustainability Advocate role?

Students can apply for the Sustainability Advocate at the beginning of the year and at the beginning of each semester, when the role is advertised.

Sign up through this form https://forms.office.com/e/QckfWi187b

If you are looking for more information about the role itself, please contact the Vice President for Communities at ausacommunities@abdn.ac.uk

What next?

You will meet up with the Vice President for Communities for an introductory meeting and to start planning the assemblies.

You will be able to sign up for Carbon Literacy Training.

MySkills

MySkills - MySkills is a new tool for students to record, reflect and develop their skills. Hosted on CareerConnect, it guides you through activities that help you assess and compare your abilities across 10 skill areas. You can export a record of your engagement and achievements to refer to when making job applications. It is available to access at any time. We would encourage you to make sure you are recording the skills you utilise and develop as a Sustainability Advocate on MySkills. You can find more info on MySkills here.
