DHM 24: Debating the Medical vs Social model of disability

For Disability History Month 2024, 14 Nov - 20 Dec, the Staff Disability Network and the Neurodiversity Network have jointly organised a series of online conversations.

The national theme for 2024 is 'Disability, Livelihood and Employment'. Each conversation will include a 15 minute presentation, followed by an open discussion for 30 minutes. Further support and resources will also be shared.

The conversations will take place online via Teams, and are open to all staff and students.

Tuesday 26 November:

'Debating the Medical vs Social model of disability' - Madge Jackson

This session aims to raise awareness and understanding of the Medical vs Social model of disability, spark conversations on why and how they are debated, and discuss how they influence language use and stigma.
