Sir Duncan Rice Library, 7th Floor meeting room 1

Tuesday 29 October 2024 at 2pm - 3:30pm

Race and Research Culture – Centring Black, Asian and racially minoritised PGR students

with Maisha Islam, Doctoral College Research Culture Lead (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) at the University of Southampton

29th of October 2024

14:00-15:30

7th Floor Sir Duncan Rice Library, room 1

This session centres the experience of racially minoritised PGR students – a hyper-minoritised group within the UK PGR student population. Using findings from Maisha's doctoral research exploring the experiences of British-Bangladeshi female PGR students, and collaborative research at the University of Southampton investigating Black and Asian PGR student experience, Maisha highlights the often-contradictory experiences students from racially minoritised backgrounds encounter within the doctoral research culture and community.

There will be plenty of opportunities for questions, discussions and networking as part of this session.

As always, tea and coffee will be provided.

Make sure to book your free spot here https://www.abdn.ac.uk/coursebooking/15366/

The PGR CommuniTea series provides a platform for postgraduate researchers (PGRs) to engage in discussions dedicated to exploring key themes shaping the PGR experience whilst connecting and building the PGR community.
