Climate Week Energy Awarness

Come and find out how you can reduce your carbon footprint at the University.

The Energy Management Team is offering a joint energy workshop with AUSA for students who want to help reduce our carbon footprint.

This workshop combines team games and presentations to explain the University’s energy use, examples of typical energy inefficiencies and how students can help reduce energy demand.

At the end of the session, attendees will be given a goody bag containing energy awareness posters, an energy efficiency leaflet, an energy walk-around checklist, and an LED bulb for a desk lamp!

Booking to this event is essential through:

Climate Week is a Scottish Government-led national campaign to raise awareness and inspire action on climate change. Organisations across Scotland are highlighting the work they are doing towards becoming more sustainable and engaging as many people as possible to help spread the sustainable message.

As a whole the University consumed over 95,649MWh of electricity, natural gas, steam, LPG, and gas oil in 2017/18. That is the same amount of energy as 23,255 typical UK households would consume in a year, or 1/5 of Aberdeen City!

We’ve set ambitious targets to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions from energy by 20% by 2021. In 2017/18, we made fantastic progress towards this but we can still do more and we need your help! Small actions and good housekeeping can make big differences!

AberGreen is a community-led sustainability education project run by AUSA.

Our aim is to help the uni community reduce its carbon footprint through fun interactive skills-building events, whilst building on the strong sense of community in Aberdeen.

Our motto is: Learn - Grow - Have Fun!

To find out how you can get involved, and for more info on our fun socials and skills-based workshops and volunteering opportunities, please visit https://www.ausa.org.uk/getinvolved/abergreen/
